Most of the Huntoon and Hunton entries in the 1850 Vermont census correspond to persons supposedly located in Vermont according to Daniel T. V. Huntoon's book. In the page VT1850UI are the individuals I could not relate to the Hunton Family genealogy. (1) Addison Huntoon, In Vershire, is probably part of Charles Huntoon's family that was there before 1835. (2) George W. Huntoon, aged 31 at Stockbridge in western Windsor County, is arguably Hilton Huntoon's son, but the approximate birthdate of 1819 in New Hampshire makes this not probable. Also, with him is 19-year old Phebe, who is not known as spouse of Hilton's son George W. It is also possible that he could be another son of Willard Huntoon, listed as "Washington" in Family #59 of Daniel T. V. Huntoon's book. (3) Philip Huntoon, 47 years old in 1850 with family at Salem, Orleans Co., born in Canada (circa 1803) is not yet identified. Philip's name, and the names of children, suggest a connection to the Huntoon family of New Hampshire. Alba Huntoon at Rockingham, Windham Co. in SE Vermont, is from Canada and otherwise unidentified. Three family groups, who should logically be located in Vermont are missing. (1) Amos Tappan Huntoon (#40) died in 1852, noted living in the area of Brownington/Charleston in Orleans Co VT as late as 1840 Census. Note that is adjacent to the border of Quebec, near Salem. Amos Tappan's father Joseph had two other children who settled in Maine. (2) Joshua Huntoon (#61) at Hartford or Hartland, had children Francis Chase Huntoon (#133)and H. Sylvester Huntoon (#134) who are not located. Neither child was supposedly married by 1850. (3) In Rutland County, VT, John Kelly Huntoon (b. 1803, m. 1822 West Haven VT, d. 1863) Joseph Osgood Huntoon (b. 1805 and m. 1826 d. 1881 b. at Cuttingsville) and Daniel True Huntoon (b. 1807, d. 1857 at Rutland) are missing from Census. Their parents (John Huntoon-Susan Miles Huntoon) and other sibilings are located in Vermont.
