He was a merchant, engaged in business in Marblehead, Peoria, Ill., and Salem, Mass.
Obituary notices of him were published in the Christian Register and Salem Gazette.
"He was a man of superior business capacity and of strict integrity, and possessed
the esteem and confidence of all who knew him. During his long sickness he suffered most
severely, but was sustained by that cheerful faith which had ever been so conspicuous an
element of his character."
