Charles (Samuel,3 John,2 Philip1),
b. March 18, 1755; m. Susanna Sleeper, who
died at Chelsea, Vt., aged 85. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, was at the
battle of Bunker Hill, where he was wounded; he was also in the War of 1812. He was killed
by the falling of a tree at Vershire, Vt., about 1835.

W23354, Continental and Mass. Service, Charles Huntoon. The
name of Charles Hunton appears on a list of applicants for Invalid pensions
from New Hampshire submitted to the House of Representatives by the
Secretary of War Feb. 28, 1795 and printed in American State Papers, Class9,
Page 161. He is listed as a resident of Grantham NH, and that in Sep.
1775 while serving under Capt. Stearns, Col. Doolittle, at Plough Hill, he
had his right knee fractured by a cannon ball from the British
entrenchments, while at work in hte line of his duty."
March 3, 1815 the pension of Charles Huntoon was
increased commencing Nov. 14, 1814. This was again increased April 23,
1816 on account of a report of two surgeons -- Edward Lamb and Aaron Stiles
who examined "Charles Huntoon, Jr" then a resident of Washington,
Orange County VT.
April 7, 1818 Charles Huntoon of Corinth VT, sixty
four years of age,testifed that he enlisted June 1, 1775 under Capt.
Stearns, Col. Doolittle, Gen. Sullivan for eight months, during which
time he was wounded, as stated; that he re-enlisted under Capt. Titcomb,
Col. Poor for one year and was discharged at Livingston Manor NY.

March 25, 1819 OBADIAH DAVIS of Bradford VT
testified to service for one year with Huntoon in 1776 in the same regiment.
July 3, 1820 Charles Huntoon of Corinth VT, sixty
five years of age, testifed that he has in his family a wife Susannah, sixty
years of age. Pension continue.
October 24, 1836 Sussanah Huntoon of Corinth VT,
seventy-nine years of age, deposed: that she is the widow of Charles
Huntoon, Revolutionary Pensioner, to whom she was married Jan. 20, 1776, and
that her husband died November 1, 1829 [Note contraction with Daniel T.
V. Huntoon above.]
Oct. 24, 1836 Josiah Burns of Corinth VT,
forty-nine years of age, certified to the death of Huntoon as stated.
Oct. 24, 1836 Ruth Norris of Corinth VT,
seventy-five years of age, testified that she is the sister of Sussanah
Huntoon; that Charles Huntoon came to their father's house in Epping NH Jan.
20, 1776; took her sister Susannah and went with her to the minister, Samuel
Stearns, about two miles from her father's house, where they were married
and returned the same evening. Soon after he left for the army and
when his service in the army expird he returned to his wife again and soon
after that removed to Nottingham NH, and lived there two or three years,
then to Unity NH and lived ten or twelve years, thence to New Grantham
NH there lived six or eight years and from thence moved to Corinth VT
and here we have resided ever since; and in almost all of these several
removals I have accompanied them. " Signed by mark.
Oct 24, 1836 Jesse Bailey of Corinth VT, eighty-six
years of age, testified to having known Charles Huntoon before and after his
mariage; knew he served in the Army after his marriage, and that he died as
stated.
March 17, 1852 Hannah Ashley of Orange VT testifed
that she is the daughter of Susannah Huntoon, late of Chelsea VT
deceased and appointed an attorney to obtain for her any pension accruing at
Susannah's death.
