The Bridgewater Vt. Town Records,
book 4, page 107 (Vermont Microfilm Facility, Middlesex, File F-2443) record the
marriage of Alonzo Huntoon to Marcia French on 26 October 1835.
Two deeds recorded at Bridgewater:
1. Hilton Huntoon of Bridgewater for
$400 paid by Alonzo Huntoon of Bridgewater, sells land in
Bridgewater: half of the saw and gristmill and privileges of the water
and mill yard including all the land that is on the north
side of the present travelled road.
Vol. 10, page 324. Sometime in 1834,
but I failed to record the month.
2. We, Hilton Huntoon and Alonzo
Huntoon, for $700 paid by Elisha Wood of Bridgewater, sell all the land
they bought ... [including] water rights, saw mill, gristmill. Signed
14 April 1836. Vol. 11, page 207.
You may remember that the piece of
land that Isaac Farwell Huntoon bought in Bridgewater was a
"Mill lot". I've never found out how Isaac got rid of that land, but maybe
it's the same piece referenced above, and maybe Isaac gave it to
Hilton sometime after 1814.
Anyway, it looks to me like in 1834
Alonzo joined Hilton's business, and in 1836 they jointly sold out.
[Coincidently the same time as the death of Martha Brown, Hilton's first
wife and Alonzo's mother-Harry Huntoon.]
